Karwar, Jul 31: Capt Mahesh Karke has been found guilty by the court of enquiry in connection with the violence which took place at Shirvad railway station on February 21.
The soldiers of Gurkha Regiment of Indian Army had gone on rampage in the Shirvad railway station on February 21. While returning to their bases after completing their training at INS Kadamba Naval base, a total of 21 soldiers led by Capt Mahesh Karke had turned violent at the railway station. They attacked railway police, staff, locals and civil police, after capturing the railway station.
Thorough investigation was held by 3 member jury of Colonel-level officers, in this regard, finally, the court of enquiry declared that Capt Mahesh Karke was guilty. This was announced by Karnataka and Kerala zonal commander Brig Clement Samuel.
At present Capt Mahesh Karke has been serving in Assam Rifles. The senior officers of Army will take legal actions against Capt Karke, Brig Samuel said.
