Mangalore, Jul 28: Former secretary of Malavoor gram panchayat Bharathi should be re-instated to her earlier post with all the arrears paid, since she lost her job owing to the politics, said Victoria D'Cunha, Zilla Panchayat (ZP) member at the press conference held here on Friday July 27.
Bharathi was appointed as GP secretary during 1995. In spite of her working sincerely, she was suspended from service since she was appointed when Congress ruled the state. She has never identified herself with any political party while discharging her duties, rather remained non-political, she said.
She had gone on maternity leave as advised by her physician Dr Anupama Suresh. She learnt of her suspension when she resumed her duty. Providing the medical certificate did not help her. The whole issue should be analyzed in the light of politics, as the local MLA Krishna Palemar has influenced to make the issue complicated, the member lamented.
The case lies pending with ZP CEO since he could not approve due to the pressure exerted by the MLA. Besides, the MLA has directed him orally to delay the process, the member alleged.
Moreover it was alleged that this was the conspiracy laid by BJP while the suspension has been indirectly sponsored by the political party. This is the height of the misuse of administration by the ruling party. If the ZP officers take just action, it would have definitely favoured Bharathi. However, the officers could not do so because of the influence of political party, Janaki Balakrishna, president of Women's Congress said.
The coalition government of Karnataka has been claiming itself as the savior of the downtrodden communities and women. But in this case the government seems to be not bothered of question the president.
If the appropriate actions are not taken, the residents of Malavoor village would stage dharna before the office of MLA, threatened Janaki Balakrishna.
Taluk Panchayat member TA Khader, former corporator Puroshotham Chitrapur, chief secretary MA Hasanabba were present at the press conference.
