Udupi, Jul 27: M P Manorama Madhwaraj criticized the district administration for breaching the laws of land acquisition for the Nagarjuna power project.
In a letter, Manorama urged the deputy commissioner and SP of Udupi to save people from the looming danger.
She said the KIADB (Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board) acquired the land without following the revenue laws at the request of Nagarjuna Power Company.
The Supreme Court’s directive stated that the industries should not be allowed to operate unless they get an environmental clearance, she said.
She further said that despite this, the KIADB and Nagarjuna Power Company had started the work as an introduction to the construction of a fly ash pond in Santhoor near here.
