Mangalore, Jul 27: Thieves who broke open into Infant Jesus Church at Modankap here have decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 14,000 on Wednesday July 25 night.
The thieves have managed to enter the up-stairs of the church building by using some wooden logs and rope which was in the church premises. Thereafter they have broken the door and entered the church. They have broken two drawers and stolen valuables. They have also lifted another drawer and broken it near the church entrance.
The thieves have also entered the sacristy and stolen Chalice from there. They have also stolen Rs 2,000 from the alms box.
Parish priest Fr Roque D'Sa had filed a case with the town police in this regard. Sources said that the police have already taken one person to custody for investigation.
