Mangalore, Jul 25: The Excise police sleuths under the direction of joint excise commissioner B J Hiremath and deputy superintendent Aziz Permannur raided an old arrack shop at Konchady near Derebail here on Wednesday July 25 and arrested one for illegally selling liquor.
The arrested has been identified as Bhaskar Poojary (29), son of Kantappa Poojary of Atikari Bettu. Two more of his associates Vaman Shetty and Pradeep Shetty managed to flee the place at the time of raid.
The said arrack shop was owned by one Mohini of Konchady. The police raided the shop after receiving a sure tip-off and seized 265 litres of liquor which was stored in 35 boxes. The raid was led by excise sub-inspector Vinod Kumar along with his team members.
The same team had earlier seized 7 litres of arrack at Daregudde on Tuesday July 24 and arrested one Ravi Shetty. The accused was later produced in the court.
