Bangalore, Jul 26: After the UK terror plot, more than 40 foreign students studying in various professional colleges in Karnataka have gone missing. The mysterious disappearance is a cause of concern for the state police.

They missing students are from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iraq and Iran. They were in various colleges in Bangalore, Mysore and Bellary.

"After the detention of Dr Mohammed Haneef in Australia, these students are not to be seen on campus. Also, they have not given any intimation or explanation to the college authorities for their absence. We are collecting details of these students," a police officer told TOI .

After the UK terror plot, the police asked all professional colleges to submit details of foreign students on their rolls. In this process, the police were shocked to know that over 40 students were missing.

The top brass of the Home Department directed the police to collect details of the missing students. The police will check where these students stayed and interrogate the owners.

The Intelligence Department has already collected details of their passports, visas and secured their photographs. The information has also been sent to the foreign ministry. The state anti-terrorist cell is also probing this episode.

Ten Pakistanis, who came to Bangalore during the India-Pakistan cricket series, are also in the list of missing foreigners. Police are searching for them.

The missing Pakistanis are Zulfikar Ahmed, Mohammed Mir Anwar, Mohammed Bilal, Inayat Ullah Khan, Baaz Mohammed, Noor Ahmed, Khoran Pahjad Ali, Mohammed Noor, Mohammed Yasin, Mohammed Tahir Shah.
