Mangalore, Jul 21: Karnataka Dalit Sangarsha Samithi (K D S S) has decided to stage a dharna on Wednesday, July 25 urging the state government to introduce a single window system which would bring significant progress among the dalit community, said S P Ananda, district coordinator K D S S, here on Friday, Jul 20.
SC and ST community constitute around 28% of the Indian population. But still these are the two classes that have been deprived of all the developments. Moreover it is also evident as 25% of the population of the oppressed classes has been suffering owing to acute poverty.
The performance of their children seems to be least compared to children from other classes since they lack education, health, and food, according to the official reports of the government, the coordinator added.
Dalit families numbering 31 have been residing near the Boloor crematorium since the British rule. However, they have not been issued title deeds of their property while taxes are being collected. .
The loans availed by dalits from Dr B R Ambedkar development board could not be repaid since this Bank and K S F C have seized their property. Hence, the Samithi urges to waive their loans like that of the farmers.
Their other demands were declaring holiday to the schools after the celebration of the Ambedkar Jayanthi. Moreover, they demanded to cancel all fake cases filed against the volunteers of D S S who took part in the progressive movements.
