Panaji, Jul 19: Sometimes, the voters feel cheated by the politicians. They dish out blatant lies during elections and conveniently forget them…..
Take for instance, Churchill Alemao, leader of Save Goa Front, has fooled the people recently.
The Save Goa Front, a political outfit, was formed with the aim of opposing Mopa airport and the regional plan 2007. While lambasting Congress, Churchill was critical of one person – Babush Monserratte.
On the other hand, Monserratte, former town and country planning minister, is considered to be the mastermind of the regional plan. All this while, the entire campaign of Goa Bachao Abhiyaan, was targetting Monserratte. The minister had also resigned…
But what happened after elections is something unimaginable. Churchill has joined hands with the same Babush. Both of them now talk of 'strengthening' the regional forces in the state. Incidentally, both of them are out of power. They are on the fence, neither in opposition nor in ruling.
A Regional force is something of an idea worth admiring. Many people feel that the national parties should be kept at bay. But will these kind of people serve the interest of people? It's anybody's guess.
Not even have two months passed after the elections but the leaders have already forgotten what they said during elections… Five years later, they will completely forget everything.
In all probability, even the voters will forget it. It sounds foolish, but the people feel cheated.
