Udupi, Jul 19: Devi Prasad Shetty, president of district JD (S) said that he is ready to go alone and talk to Naxal leaders on invitation. The choice of place of meeting is up the leader, he said at press conference here on Wednesday July 18.
The decision has been taken to prevent the Naxal activity and he is ready to sacrifice if the cause of the country needs it, provided the Naxal leaders and government should approve his decision, he added.
Great negligence towards the development of the rural areas has been a cause of the rampant of Naxalism, he said.
Congress which ruled the country for a long period is also responsible as it neglected the development of many places, he complained.
The state government is doing a great job and giving importance to the development of all the neglected areas especially Naxal-affected areas, he said.
Innocent people are killed at Menasinahadya in the encounter, he said and added that attention should be paid towards the basic needs to provide the social justice.
Social justice can solve the problems related to Naxalism and on this regard chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has drawn his attention, he added.
Naxals claim that they are responsible for the development and police are after the common people torturing them to collect information about Naxals. This has compelled the common people to prefer Naxals, he expressed his anxiety.
