Mangalore, Jul 18: “The Samiti’s mission is to ensure that the locals should be given the first reference when it comes to employment”, Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti president, Vishwanath Mada told the media persons told here on Wednesday July 18.
The Samiti also demanded that local culture should be given the top priority. At the same time setting up of industry should not harm the ecology.
“Dakshina Kannada is unique with its language while efforts should be made to preserve it, as it is the treasure of the mankind. Moreover these languages should be made available to our future generations too”, he added.
“Tulu culture is 2000-years-old and advanced. It should not die as a consequence of mushrooming of industries. Samiti has been fighting for the survival of culture”, he opined.
While replying to the queries of the media persons, the president said that they want to make sure that Nagarjuna will give 50% job reservation to the locals, and “ we wouldn’t compromise with the reservation, at any cost” he added.
He also explained the stance of the Samiti regarding the disposal of waste in the city.
He demanded that the authority should utilize the waste to generate electricity, so that the waste would not be a problem but become a resource.
He expressed Samiti's concern on maintaining the cleanliness of water bodies that supply water to the city.
M Kamaruddin, vice-president of the district committee was also present at the press meet.
