Kolkata, Sep 29 (IANS): Following the immense success of the first edition, Tata Steel is back with the 25K run which will be held on December 20.
The registrations for the race have begun and the Rs.22.8 lakh prize money event will witness both amateur and top athletes in the 25 K race.
Other running categories include the Open 10 K run (Amateurs), Ananda Run (6 km), Senior Citizens' run (4km) and Champions with disability run (4km).
The entry fee for the first three categories will be Rs.650, Rs. 550 and Rs.300 respectively while the fee for Senior Citizens run and Champions with disability will be Rs.200. The registrations will close on December 4.
The feature race 25 K and Open 10 K run are compulsorily timed race categories.
"It is now an official event of the AFI (Athletics Federation of India) and all records will be official records. We expect good participation and I hope top athletes like Tintu Luka will come and take part at the event," West Bengal Athletics Association president Prasun Mukherjee told media persons here.
A galaxy of sporting legends were present at the event including the likes of cricketer Ajit Agarkar, grandmaster Dibyendu Barua, former footballer P.K. Banerjee and mountaineer Bachendri Pal.
Last year, about 6500 participants battled to finish on the podium in the event which was held on December 28.
