India's Khanna among three named ITF vice president

Santiago, Sep 27 (IANS): All India Tennis Association (AITA) president Anil Khanna, who lost in his bid for the presidency of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), has been named a vice president along with two others of the world governing body.

Khanna along with Katrina Adams (US) and Rene Stammbach (Switzerland) were named the vice presidents under new ITF president David Haggerty. The decision was taken on Saturday at the first meeting of the new ITF Board of Directors here, a statement said.

ITF president David Haggerty said: “The selection of vice presidents reflects the diversity on the new board, and the experience of these board members. The whole ITF Board is committed to working together over the next four years to enable the continued growth of the organisation.”

Khanna lost by 192-200 votes to Haggerty in a close contest for the ITF presidency.
