Mangalore, Jul 14: Salvage experts, marine engineers, divers and oil pollution experts have arrived here in the city bringing with them marine engineering equipment, for retrieving the Eritrean freighter MV DenDen which had sunk in the rough sea of Tannirbavi here  recently. 

Despite carrying 140 tonnes of furnace oil and 1, 500 litres of marine diesel, much to the relief of the officials and the public, the freighter has not yet shown any signs of having pollution. The major concern for everyone was to prevent an oil-slick.

Marine engineers, who are engaged in studying the site of a case of overturn at Dwaraka off Gujarat coast, are expected to arrive here on Saturday, July 14.

Equipment for removing the oil from the tanks of the freighter has been stored at Tannirbavi and a camp office for the purpose will be opened shortly.
