Tottenham apologise for spelling Gretzky wrongly

London, Sep 24 (IANS): English football club Tottenham Hotspur have apologised to ice hockey legend Wayne Gretzky for presenting him with a club t-shirt with his name spelled wrongly.

The 54-year-old was a guest at White Hart Lane on Wednesday evening to witness a League Cup tie between Tottenham and Arsenal, where the former lost 1-2. They had used the letter 's' instead of 'z'.

Tottenham, however, realised their mistake midway through the match and tweeted: "Our sincere apologies to @OfficialGretzky for the shirt error. New one on its way! #COYS"

Gretzky did not take it personally and tweeted back saying, "Not to worry @SpursOfficial It happens all the time!"

Gretzky played for 20 seasons in the North American National Hockey League (NHL).
