Mangalore, Jul 13: Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike (Citizens' Welfare Forum) Mangaladevi will be inaugurated by the Lokayukta and retired judge of the Supreme Court Justice N Santosh Hegde at Rama Lakshmi Narayana conventional hall, Emmekere, here on Sunday July 15.

This was announced by B Madhava, president of the forum while speaking at a press conference here on Thursday July 12. 

The inaugural function will be chaired by Dr B K Ravindra, principal and chairperson of S D M College. Ravindra Shanbag, president of Human Rights' Protection Foundation of Udupi and G Hanumantha Kamat, president of Nagarika Hitharakshana Samiti Mangalore will be the chief guests.

The reason for the setting up of the Forum is to fight and eradicate corruption. General health check up of citizens, encourage education of poor students, raising funds for the schemes and plans of government, guiding women to set up Self Help Group, and assuring economical independence, stated the press note.

Coordinator of the forum Vishwanath said that said that it will also fight against the misuse of the money paid in the form of tax, the money released by government for the good of the society. It also encourages public to protest against the corruption, he added.

Harsha Rai, honorary president, B Madhava, president, Dr Jayaram, vice-president, Jalendra D Amin, secretary, K Vishwanath, coordinator and Kishore Kiran, treasurer were present at the press meet.
