Sao Paulo coach Osorio reveals World Cup wish

Rio De Janeiro, Sep 22 (IANS): Sao Paulo coach Juan Carlos Osorio has expressed his desire to take charge of a national team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

But the 53-year-old Colombian said his immediate focus was on securing a top-four finish with the Brazilian outfit, Xinhua news agency reported.

"My aim is to coach until the age of 60. I want to be part of a World Cup. I have had offers from national teams. Unfortunately none have been from my country," he said, adding "I also know that I will never coach Brazil".

"I have my feet on the ground. There are two or three national teams that I think would be a good fit. If and when an opportunity occurs I will certainly consider it. For the time being, I'm focused on my job with Sao Paulo."

Osorio joined Sao Paulo in May from Colombian top-flight side Atletico Nacional, who he led to 69 wins from 119 matches.

He has also had spells in charge of Millonarios, Chicago Fire, New York Red Bulls, Once Caldas, Puebla and the Honduras national team.

In addition, Osorio spent four years as an assistant coach under Kevin Keegan at Manchester City.

Sao Paulo are currently fifth in Brazil's Serie A standings with 11 matches remaining in the season.
