Agency report
Bangalore / New Delhi, Jul 10: Kafeel Ahmed, one of two main suspects in the foiled British car bomb plot, worked for over six months with Infotech, a leading Indian outsourcing company that also handled a project for the British Home Office, says a leading US daily.
Kafeel worked in the Bangalore office of the company, Infotech Enterprises, between December 2005 and July 2006, said KS Susindar, a company spokesman, according to The New York Times.
Kafeel worked for much of 2006 as an aeronautical engineer for Infotech, a firm that designs aircraft parts for companies like Boeing and Airbus. The report, published Tuesday in the NYT, however, did not clarify which aviation projects he worked on.
Kafeel, an aviation specialist, was unlikely to have worked on projects outside his domain, the report quotes Susindar as saying when asked if the terror suspect could have been involved with the project for the British Home Office.
Infotech helped the British Home Office build a searchable computer database of criminal activity in Cornwall and Devon counties, the NYT report said.
The British police suspect Kafeel to be the driver of the blazing Jeep Cherokee, loaded with explosives, that was driven into the Glasgow International Airport June 30, 2007.
The police have yet to question Kafeel as he sustained over 90 percent burns and is reported to be in a critical condition.
