BCCI will meet to decide interim chief: Shukla

New Delhi, Sep 21 (IANS): With Jagmohan Dalmiya's death leaving a vacuum at the top in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla said on Monday that the board will appoint an interim president if its constitution permits.

"Nobody can match Jagmohan Dalmiya's talent as well as stature. The void will be tough to fill. The BCCI will hold a meeting to see what can be done. We will have to see if somebody can be elected as the new interim president," Shukla said in a statement on Monday.

"If the BCCI constitution permits, then there is scope for having an interim president," he added.

Shukla also credited Dalmiya with improving the BCCI's financial stature, adding that the country's cricket fraternity will find it difficult to recover from the loss.

"I know him for the last 25 years. He has helped everytime right from 1984 when the board had very little money. His vision, the way he worked helped Indian cricket scale new heights," Shukla said.

The BCCI also announced that Dalmiya's eyes will be donated as per the the 75-year-old's wishes.

"As per the wishes of Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, who left for heavenly abode on 20th of September 2015, his eyes have been donated to Vanmukta Eye Bank, a part of Susrut Eye Foundation and Research Centre, Kolkata," the board said in a statement.
