Bangalore Jul 10: Karnataka Nataka Academy has announced its annual awards of the year 2006-07. Well-known limerick writer Dundiraj, who has written many radio plays and involved in theatre movement for many years, has been selected for the honorary award. As many as 15 theatre personalities have been selected for the annual awards. Well-known theatre troupe Prabhat Kalavidaru has been selected for K Hirannaiah Puraskara.
Six young theatre activists have been selected for CGK Yuvaranga Puraskara. Academy President Srinivas G Kappanna, announcing the list of the award winners at a press conference on Monday, said besides the annual awards, the Academy has selected 101 theatre personalities, including three staying abroad, for Suvarna Karnataka award.
The honorary award comprises Rs 10,000 in cash and a citation.
The annual award comprises Rs 5,000 in cash and a citation. The recipients of CGK Yuvaranga Puraskara will get a cash prize of Rs 3,000 and a citation.
However, Suvarna Karnataka puraskara does not include any cash prize.
The awards will be presented in a function to be organised at Mudubidri in Dakshina Kannada district.
The date of the programme has not been finalised.
