Mangalore, Jul 10: Shri Gurudevanand Swami of Shri Kshetra Odiyoor, has expressed his opposition for the proposed diversion of Netravati river.
“No doubt, the diversion of Netravati river would affect the ecological balance in the Western Gnats. The survey conducted in the state regarding the supply of drinking water is unscientific. Hence, the government should not spend cores of money for the projects which can’t be implemented”, he said in a statement.
“The government should plan to construct check dams along the Netravati, which can solve the drinking water problems in Dakshina Kannada during summer season,” Swami said.
