Bangalore, Jul 9: The state government has declared Monday, July 9 as a public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, as a mark of respect to the former prime minister Chandra Shekhar who passed away on Sunday, July 8.
Accordingly, all schools and colleges, government offices, banks etc will remain closed on Monday.
Since the late Chandra Shekhar had close links with Karnataka, chief minister H D Kumaraswamy is said to have taken special interest and declared a holiday in deference to the departed leader.
