Mangalore, Jul 3: Janata Dal (Secular) is ready to take on the Congress in a move by the state government to allot land for setting up special economic zone (SEZ), said party spokesperson and the member of legislative council (MLC) Y S V Datta, here on Monday July 2.

Addressing mediapersons Datta stated that KPCC fact-finding attempt was a move to divert the attention of the people from the probe by Ramaswamy, and the reason behind this was that they were afraid of their misdeeds being exposed.

He also said that the congress government had acquired vast tracts of land in and around Bangalore under the leader ship of S M Krishna. It is alleged that the acquired land was meant for the implementation of information technology and bio-technology related infrastructure.

Datta said that the Congress leaders should come forth with the details on extent of land acquired; compensation paid to the farmers, employment opportunities created for them and the more important whether the land acquired was that used for the right cause.

He charged that the Krishna’s government enabled realtors to grab lands of the poor farmers by initially getting them notified.  The reason the farmers sold their land was out of fear that they may not get suitable compensation from the government, he accused the former government.
