Bangkok, Sep 7 (IANS): Indian amateur golfers Hemendra Choudhary, Jaibir Singh, Seher Atwal and Anisha Padukone will compete in the men's and women's competitions at the 81st Singha Thailand Amateur Open starting at the Panya Indra Golf Club here on Tuesday.

The four-day stroke play championship will feature 128 players from 12 countries. The men's winner will be awarded the King Rama VII trophy and the ladies winner will be awarded the trophy by the president of the Thailand Golf Association.

Jaipur's Hemedra, 20, recently won the 2015 Indian Golf Union (IGU) Cochin Amateur and Bengaluru's Jaibir Singh, 25, won the 12th SAARC Team Championship event at the KGA in June this year.

While Hemendra is ranked fourth in the IGU Order of Merit, Jaibir is eighth in the IGU Order of Merit.

Their fine form has ensured a spot to represent India at the Thailand event and both will be making their international debuts at the event.

Delhi’s 17-year-old Seher, cousin of veteran golfer Arjun Atwal, has recently won the Telangana Ladies Amateur Championship.

Bengaluru’s 24-year-old Anisha, daughter of badminton legend Prakash Padukone, will also look to become the first Indian winner of the Open.
