Beltangady, Jun 28: Syndicate Bank district manager, Uday Kumar Holla said that the Banks in Dakshina Kannada district have achieved a gross business turnover of Rs 14,836 crore as on March 31, 2007.
He was speaking at the District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District-level Review Committee Meeting (DLRC) for Banking Development here on Wednesday June 27. He said increase in deposit in the last fiscal was Rs 1,500.98 crore and non-resident external (NRE) fixed deposit account was Rs 2,108,11 crore, thus constituting 23 per cent of the total deposit.
The share of urban centers in total advances was estimated at Rs 3,980.65 crore, which is about 69 per cent, whereas rural center’s share was at Rs 1,030.03 crore, which is 18 per cent. Semi-urban centers share of advances at Rs 714.54 crore, which is about 13 per cent.
As per Holla, the absolute increase in advances in the last fiscal was Rs. 1,029.34 crore. He further stated that the credit-deposit ratio in the district had increased from 62 per cent in 2005-06 to 63 per cent in 2006-07.
In 2006-07, the banks distributed a total of 10,874 kisan credit cards accounting for a total credit of Rs. 91.58 crore, Holla declared.
