Mangaluru, Aug 31: Bailur Shankar Rama, judge of family court, Dakshina Kannada, flagged off the four-day mobile people's court campaign and legal literacy chariot in the court premises here on Monday August 31.
Speaking at the occasion Bailur Shankar Rama said "The purpose and importance of law should be explained to the people in order to create awareness on law in the society. Trouble arise in everybody's life but court is not the only place to solve these problems. Problems can also be solved outside the court. In this direction awareness needs to be created. New laws on cyber crime, economic offenses and other laws are amended. And legal literacy is provided through the chariot.When people are aware of the law they avoid to make mistakes. After traveling and spreading knowledge in Sullia, Puttur, Bantwal and Belthangady,this chariot has come to Mangaluru. I wish that it creates awareness and solves maximum cases".
Speaking at the occasion A B Ibrahim, deputy commissioner of DK said "Dakshina Kannada was known to be educated district. But in the recent past people here hve been taking law into their hands.This should not happen, everyone should respect the law. There has been misuse of laws like right to information, right to education and many other laws. People should use the positive side of these laws for good purpose".
Speaking at the occasion S P Chengappa, president of bar council said "There are more than 300 laws in our nation and all the laws are crucial from birth to death of a person. So there is a need to create awareness among people. There is a need to fasten the judiciary in delivering justice. In this regard awareness programme on law is conducted and lawyer community has fully involved in this to create awareness among the general public. Injustice anywhere is threat to the justice.Main aim of this programme is to make the law to reach the poor people. This chariot is leaving today to create awareness and we all are committed to create awareness about the law among the people."
Vincent Shantharaj, additional SP, D G Nagesh, Khader Sha, informationa officer, Dr Vasanth Kumar Perla, assistant director,Akashavani and others were present.
