Beijing, Aug 26 (IANS): India's Tinku Luka finished seventh in her heats to crash out of the women's 800m competition on the fifth day of the World Athletics Championships here on Wednesday.
The Kerala athlete recorded her season's best time of two minutes 0.95 seconds to finish second last in the eight-runner field in Heat 1 at the Bird's Nest Stadium.
Marina Arzamasova of Belarus won the heat with a time of 1:58:69. Lynsey Sharp of Great Britain was second with 1:58:98 while South Africa's Castor Semenya (1:59:59) was third. All three have ensured direct qualification to the semi-finals.
