Mangaluru: Cloistered Carmel holds annual feast of St Mary Baouardy

Mangaluru, Aug 25: St Mary Baouardy, the co-foundress of Cloistered Carmel, who lived in Mangaluru for two years was declared a saint on May 17 by Pope Francis in Rome.













The Cloistered Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery, Kankanady, celebrated the annual feast of St Mary of Jesus Crucified (Marium Baouardy) on August 23.

The main celebrant of the holy Eucharistic celebration was Fr Dennis Moras Prabhu, vicar general diocese, Mangaluru, Fr Charles Serrao OCD, provincial of Goa Karnataka Province along with Fr Pius James D’Souza OCD, Fr Joseph Martis, rector, St Josephs Seminary, Fr Santhosh Kamath, Fr Patric Rodrigues FMCI Director, Fr Felix Monteiro, Fr Rudolf D’Sa, Fr John D’Souza, Fr Servin and Fr Joseph (Betharram Fathers) and few other priests.

The sermon was preached by Fr Andrew D’Souza, parish priest, Bondel. He gave a call to lead a life of obedience and humility, as taught by St Mary Baouardy. He also highlighted the works of the Holy Spirit in the life of each of us when called upon.

The DVD of the play 'The hidden treasure (Rahasya nidhi), directed by Corrine Rasquinha (White Doves) and written by Bannu Fernandes, produced by Daivik Amrith media based on the life of St Mary Baouardy was released by Fr Charles Serrao OCD (Provincial of Goa Karnataka Province), along with Fr Pius James D'Souza OCD, J R Lobo (MLA ), Fr Andrew D’Souza (parish priest, Bondel).

Fr Prakash D’Cunha, OCD, thanked the benefactors and the gathering on behalf of the Cloistered Sisters.
Numerous devotees participated in the celebration and honoured the Saint.
