Rio de Janeiro, Aug 21 (IANS): Six-time Brazilian football champions Flamengo have announced Oswaldo de Oliveira as their new coach.
Oliveira replaces Cristovao Borges, who resigned earlier in the day after Flamengo's 0-1 loss to Vasco da Gama in the Copa do Brasil on Wednesday, Xinhua reported on Thursday.
It will be Oliveira's second spell in charge of the Rio de Janeiro outfit, 12 years after his first.
"I am happy to return and looking forward to starting work tomorrow," the 64-year-old said in a statement on the club's website.
Flamengo are currently 13th in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings with 23 points from 19 matches.
