Munich, Aug 15 (IANS): German football giants Bayern Munich's midfielder Thiago Alcantara says he would like to take the new Bundesliga season as an opportunity to "start from scratch," after suffering a severe knee injury that kept him on the sidelines for more than a year.
Thiago assured that it was no time to "blame" anyone regarding the torn ligament in his right knee, an injury he sustained on March 30, 2014, Efe reported on Friday.
The Spanish international returned to Bayern's squad for the 1-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund, in which he played for more than 20 minutes.
He recalled that when dealing with his injury, he would put his hand on his knee "all day" during his careful therapy exercises.
The Spaniard is trying to put those painful moments behind him, and is looking to get back to his old self starting Friday, when Bayern Munich will play their Bundesliga opener against Hamburger SV.
