Bilbao (Spain), Aug 15 (IANS): Despite suffering a 0-4 thrashing to Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of the Spanish Supercopa here, FC Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta feels that his team will be able to turns the tables in Monday's second leg.

Spanish striker Aritz Aduriz struck a second half hattrick within a span of 15 minutes after Mikel San Jose had opened the rout with a magnificent first half strike from the centre circle as Bilbao ran the Catalan defence ragged in front of a packed San Mames Stadium.

But Iniesta was a picture of determination after the match.

"It's complicated, but not impossible. We must believe we can do it," the 31-year-old midfielder told reporters after the match.

"We made many mistakes and we have been penalised with a heavy loss. When things do not go your way you have to improve and not let it happen again."

The visitors paid the price of several defensive blunders. The second half in particular, was mostly one-way traffic as Bilbao seized control of the tie. But Iniesta refused to blame any of his team-mates, preferring instead to focus on the right mentality for the return leg at the Camp Nou.

"Problems with conceding goals are never the fault of the individual, but of the whole team," he said. "Everything turned out horribly wrong for us but nothing is impossible, we need to believe in the comeback and, starting from there, we’ll see what happens."

Full-back Dani Alves, who conceded the penalty that allowed Aduriz to complete his quick-fire hat-trick, agreed with his captain's opinion.

"I do not know if the result does justice or not, but it is what it is," the Brazil defender said. "We have not kept pace and now we must try to improve and compete at the maximum to overcome."

"We never we give up, and now even less so. We have enough credibility so that people trust the team, and 90 minutes at the Nou Camp is a very long time."
