Montreal, Aug 11 (IANS): The new tennis combination of Leander Paes and Andy Murray took less than an hour to advance to the second round of men's doubles in the $3.5 million Canada Open here.
Paes and Murray defeated the South African-French pair of Kevin Anderson and Jeremy Chardy 6-3, 6-1 on the outdoor hard courts of Uniprix Stadium on Monday.
It was an easy outing for the Indo-Scottish pair who broke Anderson and Chardy five times in the match. The South African-French combine broke Paes-Murray just once.
Next up, Paes and Murray will take on the latter's brother Jamie Murray, who has paired up with Australian John Peers.
Meanwhile, the Indo-Romanian pair of Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea got a first round bye. They will face a tough test next as they take on Serbian combine Novak Djokovic and Janko Tipsarevic.
