Chennai, Aug 9 (IANS): India A registered a comprehensive eight-wicket win against South Africa A at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here in a 50-over tri-series match on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 245 runs, the home team's openers Mayank Agarwal (130) and skipper Unmukt Chand (90) posted a 219-run first wicket partnership to fashion the victory.
They were in complete control of the proceedings from the very beginning and scored at a fast clip to bring about India A's victory with 74 balls remaining.
Earlier, India A bowlers did a commendable job of bowling out South Africa A for 244 runs.
South Africa A won the toss and decided to bat. Their senior team's regular wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock (108) scored a fine century but his fine effort was undone by lack of support from his teammates.
India A's right-arm medium fast bowler Rishi Dhawan impressed with a four-wicket haul (4/49 in his 10 overs).
Chand was happy with the performance of his boys.
"The bowlers bowled in the right areas and it was a great start. We restricted them to 244, which was a decent total. Both of us started shakily and I am happy we could play till the end make it an one-sided encounter.
They bowled really well in the right areas and we just told each other that it was matter of few overs," he said after the match.
