Barcelona, July 15 (IANS): FC Barcelona's Spanish coach Luis Enrique has hoped wantaway striker Pedro Rodriguez would stay with the team, adding the club is focusing on winning six trophies next season.
"Pedro's situation is very clear: I don't want anyone from the squad to leave. I have always highlighted his performances and I hope to maintain our relationship. It is the player who has to decide," Enrique was quoted as saying by Barcelona's official website on Tuesday, reports Efe.
The coach added during a press conference that he does not have the option to promise players to play a certain number of minutes and seconds, or even promise them a place on the squad.
Enrique could not hide his pleasure with the arrivals of the Chilean Aleix Vidal and Turkish midfielder Arda Turan: "I am very happy with the players brought in and I take this opportunity to congratulate the Managing Commission for signing of Arda Turan."
"The treble is now in the past, now we are interested in six trophies," the Spanish coach declared, apparently also eying the Spanish Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. Barcelona won La Liga, Copa Del Rey and the Champions League last season. It was the club's second ever treble trophy-winning season.
The Spanish coach also hoped to utilise the services of defenders Thomas Vermaelen and Douglas Pereira next season, as they did not feature with the team in the last term.
The 45-year-old coach confirmed that South American stars Lionel Messi, Javier Mascherano and Claudio Bravo will be given one month vacation for recuperation after featuring in the 2015 Copa America tournament.
