Jul 13, (Emirates 247): A Dubai policeman died after he was hit by a van while trying to help a woman whose vehicle broke down on the road.

Corporal Saleh Musaad had just called a crane to move the woman’s car on Hessa Street when he was knocked down by the furniture van.

“He is a martyr, as he died while carrying out his duty by helping the woman whose car broke down,” Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief Major General Khamis Al Mazinah said, quoted by the Arabic language daily 'Emarat Al Youm'.

He said Musaad was standing next his police patrol car when he was hit, adding that police experts are investigating the accident to determine responsibility.

“Initial investigation showed that the van driver did not use the brakes to avoid the accident.

"This means that he was not concentrating on the road.”

Mazinah said Musaad is the second Dubai policeman to die while carrying out his duty on the road after the death of Hayan Adel who was run over by a truck while trying to move another truck on the road.
