Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla to open Lakmé Fashion Week

Mumbai, July 8 (IANS): Celebrated designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, known to straddle both worlds of fashion and interiors effortlessly, will open the winter/festive edition of Lakmé Fashion Week winter 2015 starting from August 25 here.

The duo are known as the masters of ‘revival and reinvention’, having transformed chikankari, zardozi and mirror-work into their signature contemporary style of classical elegance.

The veterans continue to lead the industry, exhibiting their finest work with rich fabrics, delicate hand-embroidery and embellishments coupled with flawless finesse.

Popular for their regal and extravagant bridal wear, the duo will show a fresh and youthful take on fashion at the fashion week. As an ode to the modern day divas and their free spirit, the designers will present a special collection, reinventing traditional styles.

“Expect a befitting opening act, this season, as we reinvent the traditional to present an exciting, fresh take on fashion deemed fit for the youthful, modern day diva celebrating her harmonious, republican spirit," Jani and Khosla said in a joint statement.

Lakmé Fashion Week celebrates its 15th anniversary this season at Hotel Palladium.

"We open with one of the best designer duos Indian fashion has seen, and are pleased to curate an evening that will depict fashion with unique sensibilities,” said Saket Dhankar, vice president and head-fashion, IMG Reliance.

Their popularity goes far beyond India. Their creations have been adorned by international celebrities such as Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Sophie Marceau and Freida Pinto.
