Mangaluru, Jul 8: Abdul Rahim alias Goods Rahim alias Kandi Rahim (40), said to be a prime ganja peddler engaged in supplying ganja to young people and college students in the city, stands arrested by a team of city crime branch (CCB) police. He is a resident of Ansari Cross Road in Bunder here.
Rahim was nabbed when he was selling ganja stored in a new Honda Activa two-wheeler vehicle near the Old Bunder area in the city. 1.35 kg ganja worth Rs 20,000, two gold chains, two finger rings, two cell phones, and the two-wheeler were seized from his possession. Total value of all these things has been estimated at Rs 2.4 lac.
It is said that the accused used to make small sachets of ganja and supply them to students of various colleges, other educational institutions, as well as members of the public. He was facing three earlier cases in city (north) station relating to ganja sale. His brother, Farooq, had been arrested by the police last week and ganja was confiscated from his possession. At that time, Rahim had succeeded in giving the policemen a slip.
The raid was conducted by CCB inspector, Valentine D'Souza and police sub-inspector, Syam Sundar, under the directions of police commissioner, S Murugan, and guidance of deputy commissioner of police, K M Shantaraju.
The accused as well as the things seized from his possession have been handed over to city (north) police station for further action.
