Bengaluru Jul 7: A woman has alleged that minister for textiles Baburao Chinchansur has cheated her by issuing a cheque amounting to Rs 11.88 crore which has bounced.
Anjana A Shanthaveer from Nagarbhavi is the complainant. She had sought permission from the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly to file a criminal case against the minister. But the Speaker stated that the sanction for filing criminal proceedings against the minister is not required. After that Anjana has approached the magistrate court.
Anjana has alleged that the minister had borrowed Rs. 11.88 crore from her from January to September in 2011 in several instalments for the renovation of his factories and the cheque he had issued in return dated April 30, 2015 has been dishonoured.
Anjana says that she has an agreement to the dealings on stamp paper which said the minister should pay an interest of 12 % per annum. Anjana says the minister did not pay a single rupee but instead started being rude to her.
Meanwhile Chinchansur has denied the allegation and filed a complaint against the woman, accusing her of stealing a cheque leaf and trying to withdraw cash amounting to Rs 11.88 crore from his bank account. Based on his complaint filed a few days ago, the Vidhana Soudha police have registered a case. Chinchansur says that the woman was close to his family hence she had the chance to steal the cheque leaf.
“The matter is still in the preliminary stage, and we are investigating it,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Sandeep Patil said commenting on the case.
