Istanbul, July 6 (IANS): Turkish football club Fenerbahce has announced the signing of winger Nani from Manchester United.
The 28-year-old Portugal international arrived in Turkey to undergo a medical on Sunday with a view to finalising a deal after the Super Lig side had agreed a fee with United, goal.com reported on Monday.
"I'm very happy for being here. I think that there is a big chance to prove myself again. I'll try to do my best to make Fenerbahce fans happy. I hope everything goes well," Nani told Fenerbahce's official website upon arrival.
"I know Fenerbahce very well. The club's aims have always been high and playing with (Raul) Meireles and Bruno Alves will be exciting. With their help, I'll feel like I'm with my family. I want to be successful with my new teammates."
Nani joined United in a 17.5 million pounds deal from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2007 but despite winning four english Premier League (EPL) titles, a Champions League and League Cup, he was rarely a key figure at the club. He played 230 matches for United across all competitions, scoring 40 goals.
The 28-year-old spent last season on loan back at Sporting as part of the deal that took Marcos Rojo to United, notching 11 goals and two assists in 36 appearances in all competitions for the Portuguese giants.
Nani, who has represented Portugal in 86 matches, will be unveiled at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium later in the day.
