Udupi, Jul 4: "The central government should hand over all the corruption cases to CBI including the bribery case against Ashwin, son of Lokayukta Justice Bhaskar Rao," said veteran Congress leader and former union minister Janardhan Poojary.
Addressing at a press meet here on Saturday July 4, he criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, "The Prime Minister is behaving like a blind man against farmers’ grievances. Modi government is facing severe corruption at present. BJP is getting mired in frauds and corruption. CPI and communist parties are kept separated from such activities. Where is the oath of providing transparent administration taken by him? People gave him a chance to prove his leadership, but not many development works have been seen from the last 14 months."
"His 'Mann ki baat' is now called 'monkey baat' by people," he mocked.
"Modi has a social responsibility of looking after the welfare of 125 crore people. Nearly 80% of farmers depend on agriculture and their monthly income is not more than Rs 5,000 and they live in a pathetic condition. Modi has given less priority for agriculture work in the budget. Sexual harassment on women, persecution of RTI activists and harassment of media representatives are increasing day by day," he alleged.
"The PM cannot not fulfil the demands of the public with his colourful speech and people are disappointed with his promises. Vasundhara Raje, chief minister of Rajasthan and her son Dushyant Singh, foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, former IPL chief Lalit Modi, HRD minister Smriti Irani, Pankaja Munde, and B S Yeddyurappa are accused in one or other way. First of all, Modi has no will power to do justice. Why has he kept silent regarding all these cases? Why can't he hand over the cases to CBI probe?" he questioned.
Commenting on Vyapam scam, he said, "There are 55 FIRs filed and 1,900 accused were arrested and 700 accused are yet to be arrested. Around 41 accused and witnesses died with absolutely no reasons and nearly 31 SPs and IG senior officers are in prison."
Challenging Modi, Poojary said, "If he has courage, let him hand over all the cases to the CBI for investigation. He would not lose anything if he is right. He should have a clean soul first before preaching about the Swachch Bharat."
Keshav Kotian, Krishnaraj Saralaya, senior Congress leader, Sujay Poojary, Harish Kini and others were present.
