Only Sridhar and his mother, who is deaf, used to live in the house. On Friday night when Sridhar's nephew came to the house, he found Sridhar lying in a pool of blood. He immediately informed the neighbours.

Sridhar who was in a critical condition was rushed to Kasargod hospital and later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. However, he failed to respond to treatment and breathed his last on Saturday.

Kasargod SP M Srinivas and other higher officials visited the spot and investigated.

In a later development, Ashok (18), the nephew of the deceased who was acting suspiciously was arrested by the police as an accused in the murder. Primary investigation has revealed that financial dispute may have led to the murder.

A case has been registered in Vidyanagar police station.
