Santiago, July 2 (IANS): South American football's governing body, Conmebol, has selected Wilmar Roldan to referee the Copa America final between Chile and Argentina.
The Colombian official will take charge of matters at Estadio Nacional stadium on July 4, and will be aided by compatriots Alexander Guzman (first assistant) and Cristian De la Cruz (second), with Venezuela's Jose Argote as the fourth official.
Roldan was in charge of Argentina and Paraguay’s 2-2 draw in the group stages, and Peru’s 3-1 win over Bolivia in the quarter-finals.
He also refereed at the 2014 World Cup, overseeing Mexico’s match with Cameroon.
Raul Orosco of Bolivia will officiate the third-place playoff between Peru and Paraguay, with Javier Bustillos (first assistant), Juan Pablo Montane (second) and Andrew Cunha (fourth official) in support.
