Mangaluru, Jun 30: The city crime branch (CCB) police led by Valentine D'Souza on Tuesday June 30 arrested an accused who had escaped during an arrest operation three days ago.
On June 27, the CCB police had arrested a murder-accused identified as Dayanand alias Raja near Kulshekar-Kaikamba post office and recovered a pistol and five bullets from his possession.
There were two others with Raja, but they had managed to escape. They were reportedly planning to carry out some crime.
The CCB police continuing their hunt for the absconding accused managed to arrest one of them, identified as Nishant Shetty (24), a resident near Kelarai church, Kudupu here on Tuesday. He was arrested near Vamanjoor.
Nishant Shetty is accused in a number of cases of assault and attempt-to-murder in Kavoor, Ullal and Mangaluru rural police stations.
The accused has been handed over to Kadri police for further investigations.
