Bengaluru, Jun 29: Fifteen Capuchin brothers were ordained deacons on Monday June 29 during the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Archbishop Dr Bernard Moras of Bengaluru. On the great Solemnity of the Saints Peter and Paul, the Capuchin friars of the Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka rejoiced with the 15 brothers ordained to the ministry of diaconate.
On June 29, Dr Bernard Moras amidst the presence of numerous priests, religious and lay faithful, bestowed on 17 brothers the order of diaconate. The celebration was held in Darshan Institute of Theology (DITh), Deena Seva Ashram, the Capuchin Theologate at 10am.
Quoting the words of Pope Francis, Archbishop Bernard Moras invited the brothers to be the joy of the Gospel and the joy of the mission. He also gave a call for them to be faithful and committed in their vocation. Thus 13 Capuchin brothers of Holy Trinity Province, Karnataka; 2 Capuchin brothers of St Anthony’s Province, Goa and 2 Benedictine brothers were raised to the order of the clergy. They are now commissioned to ‘believe what they read, teach what they believe and practice what they teach’.
Fr Joseph Dolphy Pais, Provincial of Holy Trinity province, Karnataka thanked the Archbishop for his availability to confer on these brothers the grace of diaconate. Fr Jossy Fernandes, rector of Darshan Institute of Theology, Bengaluru praised the parents and relatives for sacrificing their sons for the very cause of the Lord.
Brothers from the Capuchin theologate under the baton of their Scripture professor Fr Salvador Fernandes enhanced the solemnity of the occasion with their melodious choir. The celebration had a better look with the presence of many priests, religious, friends and benefactors and the family members of the deacons. With the felicitation program and a delicious lunch organized by the community of DITh the celebration reached its closure.
