Dubai, Jun 29: Members of Mangalore Konkans Dubai unanimously elected Alwyn Pinto as the President to take the helm of its affairs for the next two years. Alwyn Pinto, one of the founder members of Mangalore Konkans Dubai (Affiliated to the ICWC) is a well-known personality among the Mangaloreans residing in the UAE. His contribution towards philanthropic works as well as promotion of Konkani language and culture has been immense. Hilda Pais was elected as Vice President. A new committee elected by the members at their recent General Body meeting assured to take Mangalore Konkans Dubai to greater heights as did its predecessors.
The new team comprises of following members:

Hilda Pais – Hon. Vice President
Lily D’Almeida – Hon. Secretary
Rowena Pereira – Hon. Joint Secretary
Ronald Sequeira – Hon. Treasurer
Wilfred Lobo – Hon. Entertainment Secretary

James Mendonca, who served Mangalore Konkans Dubai as president for the last four years, thanked his Committee members as well as all the members for their whole hearted support during his tenure. Aboline D’Cunha, the outgoing Hon Vice President, on behalf of members of the association commended James Mendonca for his extra ordinary leadership and organizing skills particularly time management & promptness in conducting the affairs of the group. He along with his team successfully took Mangalore Konkans Dubai to its prominence with successful celebration of its Silver Jubilee in October 2013, a number of cultural and sports events and benevolent works including the launching of “Fire of Benevolence” project .
James Mendonca a philanthropist and successful entrepreneur in his address said that his tenure was eventful marked with many milestones. He also stated that the achievements during his term could not have come this far without the cooperation of his Core team consisting Aboline D’Cunha , Lily D’Almeida, Ronald Sequeira, Joseph Pinto, Walter Peris, Arun Lobo, Kumar Fernandes, Marina Menezes and the support of all the other members. The responsibility was symbolically transferred by the outgoing President James Mendonca by handing over the files of the association to the new President Alwyn Pinto.
Alwyn Pinto taking the charge as the president thanked everyone for their support and the confidence placed in him to carry forward their trust in him. He assured that along with his team he would continue to work towards the success of Mangalore Konkans Dubai upholding its values and supporting humanitarian causes.
Mangalore Konkans Dubai (Estd 1988), affiliated to the ICWC, Dubai, is one of the most prestigious and successful organizations in the Gulf which celebrated its Silver Jubilee in October 2013 and completed its glorious 26 years in October 2014. It has involved itself in numerous noble works apart from promoting Konkani Language and Culture among the Mangaloreans in the UAE.
