Bantwal, Jul 28: A minor accident between a car and a bike led to a fight between two groups at Polali entrance arch in Maripalla here on the night of Sunday June 28. As the situation turned tense, the police had to resort to lathi charge.
It is said that soon after the car and the bike collided near the Polali entrance arch, the driver and the rider got into an argument, and in within no time, people gathered at the spot. The arguments quickly snowballed into a fight between two groups.
The Bantwal rural police who rushed to the spot resorted to lathi charge in order to disperse the mob. The situation was brought under control and as a precautionary measure, additional police security has been deployed at the spot.
Bantwal circle inspector Beliappa, rural police inspector Rakshith Gowda and police personnel are at the spot.
"Tense atmosphere prevailed as two groups gathered at the spot. They have been dispersed and there is nothing to fear," said inspector Rakshith Gowda.
