Jun 16, (Emirates 247): A Saudi border customs inspector carried an ageing Yemeni woman on his back and walked towards the passport check area before letting her into Saudi Arabia.
The official hurried to the woman after noticing she could hardly walk towards the security check-in area, lifted her with the help of a relative and put her on his back.
The Saudi customs authority confirmed the picture was shot at Wadeea border point with Yemen.
It said the photograph, which was published on local social media networks and in newspapers, was taken without the inspector’s knowledge.
“The photograph was taken without the inspector’s knowledge. It illustrates the ethical values of the customs men as they carry out their humanitarian duty along with their official duty,” it said in a statement published by 'Sabq' newspaper.
