Kundapur, June 12: More than 84 landlords in Vaderahobali grama have reportedly received notices of acquisition of their land for underground drainage in Kundapur town. The affected local farmers gheraod the office of Municipal council on June 12 to express their opposition against acquisition of their land by force.
The farmers shouted slogans opposing acquisition of land for underground drainage under land acquisition Act 1894. They said that thickly populated Vaderahobali grama is a part of Kundapur town and urged the officials to lodge their opposition to the proposed underground drainage there. They also urged that the department should acquire other land elsewhere for the purpose.
Karntaka zonal agricultural workers association Udupi district secretary Venkatesh Koni, Suresh Kallagara, H Narasimha, Dasa Bhandary, Rajesh Vaderahobali, Shiva Mendon, Krishna Poojary, Chandra Mahabala Vaderahobali Narasimha Naika, Nithyananda and others were present.
