Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, June 11: The office bearers of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike have expressed joy as the film Chaali Polilu celebrated 225 successful days in the city. They have given a following statement regarding the success of the film and sought additional support for Tulu film
industry.

“It is a matter of joy that the Tulu film industry grows well. The increasing number of Tulu films being released every year is a medium to encourage the language, culture and talents of Tulu people”.

“Chaali Polilu film released in 2014 has reached amazing feats and achieved new and unique records. The show on June 12 is going to be its 225th day show. The film which has reached the feat in a multiplex makes us glad. Forum Mall of Pandeshwar and PVR company need to congratulate the Chaali Polilu team. A film has achieved a record of two centuries for the first time in PVR. The film has reached the distance where no other film has reached or can easily reach. We need to congratulate the film team for it”.

“We urge to consider the Chaali Polilu film during the award ceremony for regional films. While Tulu people celebrate the success of the film, there are certain things which should be thought about by them. Some theatres in the city demand extra rent for Tulu films. The
theatres let for lesser rent for Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. The stories of all talkies in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district including Mangaluru are the same. As the Tulu language films have limited market being a regional language, it is not possible to earn as much profit as other language films. In the circumstances, it is condemnable that the talkies owners are depriving the Tulu films of the privilege by charging higher rent.

“Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike will not give room for the exploitation of Tuluvas. The talkies owners should give up charging higher rent from Tulu film producers and charge the same rates for all language films or charge less for Tulu films failing which it will be inevitable for
us to protest against the exploitation. In such a case we need support from all Tulu people”.

“There is an instance when Tamil film was given preference when talkies were asked for Tulu film. The Tulu film producers should unite against such practices. If there is a gap of about five weeks after the release of the film, it will be profitable for the producers. There is a need of Film Chamber in Tulu for the growth of Tulu film industry”, stated the statements from Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike.

The producers, directors, artistes and technicians should display their unity for it, it further stated.
