New York, June 10 (IANS): Legendary filmmaker Orson Welles (1915-1985) edited a lesbian scene in a 1970s pornographic movie as part of an effort to complete what would be his final film, "The Other Side of the Wind," author Josh Karp says in a new book.
"Orson Welles's Last Movie" follows the production of the ill-fated film, whose cast included fellow auteurs John Huston and Peter Bogdanovich.
Karp discovered that Welles's cinematographer on the "Wind" project, Gary Graver, was directing a porn flick called "3 A.M." to put food on the table, Efe news agency reported.
Welles agreed to do some of the editing on "3 A.M." to allow Graver to concentrate on "Wind".
The creator of the masterpiece "Citizen Kane" approached the task in his own way, according to Karp.
Welles "wound up editing a hard-core lesbian shower scene that he couldn't resist cutting in Wellesian fashion with low camera angles and other trademark flair", Karp writes.
Digital magazine Vulture's story about Karp's discovery is accompanied by a video clip of the scene.
