London, Jun 10 (IANS): Actor Rowan Atkinson has sold his McLaren F1 sports car for a staggering 8 million pounds, making a profit of 7.3 million pounds.
The 60-year-old agreed one of the "biggest-ever" vehicle deals in Britain by parting with his 240mph sports car, which was rebuilt in 2011 after a crash, for the huge sum, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Specialist car dealer David Clark, who originally sold Atkinson the rare vehicle, told The Sun newspaper: "Everyone is very pleased with the sale. There was interest from around the world and it has gone to a British buyer who will drive it like Rowan did.
"It is one of the biggest ever deals in the UK. Rowan is pleased, but also maybe a bit sad as he did 40,000 miles in it."
The "Love Actually" star decided to list his car for sale at the beginning of the year because he felt it was time for someone else to "enjoy" the vehicle.
He previously said: "It's time for it to be enjoyed by someone else. I bought it for the quality of the thinking that went into its design, and now it has become a thing of value, it is time for it to be enjoyed by someone else."
